Being A Girly Girl

{June 30, 2009}   The Bachelorette

So is it me or does watching Jillian Harris pick Wes every week get on your nerves also?!

Now I will be the first to admit that having all those men at my disposal would have seemed like a fantasy come true (back in my dating days).  And yes, I am addicted to the Bachelor and Bachelorette on ABC and have been since the first show.  This is the first season, however that I always end up actually shouting at my screen at every rose ceremony when I think she will finally see Wes for who he really is and send him packing.

And then I sit and wonder…..do they edit the show this way?  I am sure that has a lot to do with it, but I think that Jillian really likes this guy and that is why she keeps him around.  I reflect on my dating days and remember when I would go to Clay Walker concerts with my friends.  It seemed when I returned home that evening, I would dream about how some handsome country crooner plucked me out of the audience and sang a song to me and we fell in love and lived happily ever after.  No wonder I never wanted to get up in the morning!!  And then there were the BAD guys that I dated thinking that would be fun and it always ended up being a nightmare.  Bad guys are always a bad choice.  Hopefully Jillian will figure out soon that Wes is only there for shameless self promotion.  That is all fine, Wes, unless you stand the chance to break someones heart.  In that case, you become a piece of brown smelly stuff stuck to the bottom of your cowboy boot!

So Jillian, learn from this Girly Girl…….go for the good guys.  As much as I love a country musician, dump that two-timin’ Wes and stick with the Kiptyn’s of the world.

Ever the old fashioned romantic!  Debra

{June 17, 2009}   Metallic Fabrics

So metallics are back in the news.  Just take a peek at this recent picture of Girly Girl Jennifer Aniston

Why are we enamored with Metallics?  Take a walk back in time and see how metallic fabrics were used……mostly to signify royalty!  They were the only ones who could afford them, after all.  That is what makes metallics so popular; you feel like a million bucks in them!!  Once reserved for the higher echelon of society; thanks to textile mills, now many can look glamorous for smaller amounts of money.

SO don’t be shy…go get something metallic and show the world you are not afraid to look beautiful!
